Habits shape the way we live our lives. Bad habits cause us to be unhappy and unmotivated, while good habits result in productivity, a healthier lifestyle, fulfilment and more.
Good habits are things you should incorporate into your daily routine and should be non-negotiable.
So what exactly are non-negotiable habits?
Non-negotiables are all about having control. They are things that you absolutely must make time for every day no matter what. They are all about creating structure so you can get things done, be more productive and generally live a healthier lifestyle.
Every single person in the world has the same amount of hours in the day. It’s up to you how you choose to use them.
Five easy non-negotiable habits for maximum personal growth and a healthier lifestyle.
Set sleep times
Wake up and go to bed at the same time every day. This will create good sleep patterns and allow you to get better sleep and feel more rested. It will also help you to plan out your day because you know precisely how many waking hours you have to get things done.
Aim for a minimum of 20 minutes every day. It doesn’t matter what it is, a walk, a run, a workout, yoga; the important part is that you stay consistent and do it every day. Moving your body is so important for not only your physical health but your mental and emotional wellbeing too.
There are so many diet fads out there its overwhelming to try and keep up with what’s best. And I’m certainly no expert. But I can tell you what the most obvious advice is; stay away from fast food, processed foods and sugar! Aim for fresh and organic every time. My diet consists of plant-based whole foods, lots of good fats and low carb. I also incorporate intermittent fasting into my lifestyle.
Make your bed
Sounds silly, but it’s a significant factor in starting your day off on the right foot. As soon as I get out of bed in the morning, I make my bed. So within the first 2 minutes of waking up, I have already achieved something positive, which then sets a good pace for the day to follow.
Meditate/quiet reflection time
Take some time out of your day to meditate or to sit in silence. Even just for a few minutes. Switch off from everything and everyone around you, and connect with yourself. It does wonders for the mind and spirit.
